When I hit my 50s and went into menopause, it felt like my body had been taken over by an alien! Despite cooking at home and eating whole, clean foods, I started gaining weight, felt exhausted all the time, and—let’s be honest—I was mad at everyone!
I found myself visiting doctors often, desperate to feel healthy again.
Everything changed when I discovered the power of prioritizing protein at every meal and lifting heavy weights to build muscle! I finally feel like myself again!
Knowing that this was going to be a lifestyle change for me, I went online looking for new recipes to inspire me in the kitchen, and to keep things from getting boring. …but I really couldn’t find much. Most of what I found were meal ideas being posted by people who were fueling their bodies in the most basic ways, and who were not doing much real cooking.
…but I love to cook! …and I love to EAT, and I want to be excited when I sit down to a meal!
Yes, I want to fuel my body and meet my nutrition goals, but DO NOT want to feel like I have to change my whole approach to cooking, eating and living! I am committed to making the changes that I need to make to feel better, but I am making super sure that my approach is sustainable. Food has to continue to be exciting and I still want to enjoy being in my kitchen!
After years of cooking almost every meal every day, feeding my family, and reading cookbooks and online blogs for fun, I have found that I am actually the person with the ideas that I am looking for!
I make delicious and satisfying high protein, high fiber, low calorie meals that work if you are in a calorie deficit, looking for protein, trying to build and retain muscle or just want some inspiration in the kitchen for what to cook and eat!
